A nourishing organic, unrefined oil can moisturize, soothe, and help restore natural balance to facial skin. All of the carrier oils we use are organic and we prefer our oils in unrefined states. Unrefined oils (also known as pure or virgin) are recommended more often because of the prized qualities that are kept intact during the extraction process.
What Is a Face Oil?
Face oil is a simple, natural way to nourish your skin. All skin types could benefit from the use of oils, not just for people with very dry skin. Those with oily skin are often told to use oil-free moisturizers or skin cleansing products with harsh pore-clogging ingredients that actually cause acne and blackheads and strip skin of its natural oils leading to an overproduction of sebum to overcompensate for thIs loss. Our organic face oils contain natural plant oils that penetrate deeply bringing essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to your skin. We use nourishing oils such as olive, meadowfoam, and sunflower, healing oils like argan, sea buckthorn, and tamanu, and potent seed oils such as pomegranate, rosehip, watermelon, hemp, pumpkin, and red raspberry to help replenish skins own natural oil and promote a healthy complexion. Use our oils alone or added to your usual moisturizer for an added boost.
How To Use
Are you a beginner? We recommend starting out with our ½ oz bottle. This is best if you are unsure of your skin type or want to try out different essential oil blends. For more long term use or used as an after-shower oil, our 1 oz and 2 oz bottles will satisfy your needs.
Great for year long use, oils can help soothe dry winter skin and add moisture to summer skin dehydrated by the sun. Oils are perfect for whole body and hair applications and could be used once a day, two times a day, or every other day, no matter your preference or need for skin maintenance. They are perfect for city dwellers, travelers, those who work from home, or who spend a lot of time outdoors.
We currently offer our oils in ½ oz, 1 oz, and 2 oz bottles. ½ oz sizes are In dropper bottles and 1 oz and 2 oz sizes are in pump bottles.
½ oz: Use 1-2 droppers per application.
1 oz and 2 oz: Use 1-3 pumps per application.
If skin is extra dry, a couple more drops or an additional pump may be helpful, but do not over do it. You do not want any excess sitting on your skin, but if too much is applied, no need to wipe it off on a towel. Massage the excess oil in on other parts of your body, beard, or hair, to avoid transferring oil to clothing or on other objects.
For Face Application
Use in the morning or at night in place of a moisturizer. Start by massaging oil into freshly cleaned, slightly damp skin. Applying any moisturizer to a moist face helps prevent evaporation by locking in water from the upper layers of the skin. Note that skin should not be wet or the skin will be unable to hold the oil. Avoid applying to eye area. We recommend applying to the outside of your eyes perimeter, or your eyebrows, temples, nose, and cheekbones. You could also apply a small amount of moisturizer to your neck and décolletage. Gently massage the oil into your skin in a small, circular, upward motion for about a minute or until the oil has been completely absorbed. The gentle massage will give you skin an added circulation boost. Already use a moisturizer? If your skin is extra thirsty you can enrich any natural moisturizer with a couple drops of face oil for extra hydration.
½ oz: Start with a few drops to ½ a dropper. This size is recommended for face and beard application, and is best when first experimenting with a blend.
1 oz and 2 oz: Start with one pump at a time, but do not use over 3 pumps for face, neck, chest, and shoulders. This size is recommended for face and body application, and if you intend to use your oils daily.
For Total Body Application
Recommended only after you shower. This technique will help keep your skin moisturized longer in-between washes, and prevents a need to apply butters and lotions throughout the day. It is also the perfect amount of moisturizer for your whole body, especially when prone to breakouts.
½ oz: use 1 droppers worth of oil for top half of body and ½ a dropper for each leg
1 oz and 2 oz: use 3-5 pumps for top half of body and 2-3 pumps for each leg
When still wet, wick off any excess water from your body with hands. First apply oil to the top half of your body. The remaining water droplets help the oil slide evenly over your body. Make sure to get your face, arms, chest, back, hips, and stomach, or any areas that tend to get itchy or dry. Apply oil one leg at a time to evenly disperse. Be careful to not slip when massaging into your feet! Pat feet dry and gently pat off any excess water with your towel. Air drying is the best way to ensure oil is fully absorbed.
For Beard and Hair Application
A little goes a long way when it comes to oil on hair. When applying oil to your face, make sure to include your beard in the gentle massage. If you do apply separately, rub 1-2 drops in hands before applying as you do not want to smother your beard with oil. To condition ends of hair, wait until the end of your facial application and rub your hands on the tips. Any excess should be the perfect amount, but a couple more drops could be added.
½ oz: use 1-2 drops at a time
1 oz and 2 oz: not recommended for beard and hair application as you cannot apply less than 1 pump. If there is any excess from face or body application, rub the excess on your beard or hair.
Shelf life
Our organic face oils contain no GMO’s, petroleum-based ingredients, parabens, or preservatives. Although they are in bottles that do not permit sunlight from penetrating, it is important to store your facial oil in a cool place out of direct sunlight. Shelf life is about 4-6 months after opening.
Since you only need a few drops per application, a ½ oz bottle will last about a month with daily use. If you are using your oil for total body application as well as your face, it will be used up sooner.
1 oz pump bottle will last about 2 months with daily use. 2 oz pump will last around 3 months with daily use.
