Fresh Blend

As a public school employee, I work closely with hundreds of children spanning ages from four to fourteen. It’s a joy to be involved in the lives of so many families at such a wonderful Ann Arbor school. Working in a school, I take on different roles as I respond to most needs moment to moment. The most important role I play is that of a caregiver. On a daily basis, I may be applying band-aids, consoling ill children, or playing games touched by many little hands. It is not only wise but ethical to ensure that I am doing my best to mitigate the spread of infectious microbes. I make sure that I frequently wash my hands thoroughly throughout my workday. All of that washing presents its own problems as it leaves my hands vulnerable to dryness and cracking.

Before I leave the house I always make sure that I have my keys, my purse, my phone, and a lotion bar. What makes the Fresh Lotion Bar perfect for work are its antiseptic properties that help heal and ward off infections. All essential oils carry antiseptic properties and eucalyptus happens to be particularly excellent. According to an article in the Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine, a peer-reviewed journal, eucalyptus oil is suitable for treating skin problems such as wounds, cuts, and burns. It has also demonstrated antibacterial activities and researchers have proved its efficacy beyond doubt in the treatment of infectious diseases. While handwashing is important, treating the skin afterward with a Fresh Lotion Bar can further augment the body’s ability to ward off infection.

This past winter, it seemed as though there was no end to the illnesses passing through our school. Episodes were bookended to each other, and it was a common occurrence to see children coughing into their shirt sleeves and sneezing into their hands. I dutifully reminded children to exercise proper hygiene, but I also knew that I would need to be vigilant in order to stay healthy myself. After a brief science activity where students were handling and sharing lots of materials, I knew that it would be important for me to wash and treat my hands right away. After thoroughly scrubbing and washing with antibacterial soap, I dried my hands and reached into my pocket to grab my Fresh Lotion Bar. The lotion bar is solid in its form at room temperature but melts on contact with the skin. I rubbed the lotion bar back and forth between my hands, over the tops of each and between my fingers, giving the care to apply to the cuticles where the skin is particularly vulnerable. Not only did I survive the season by staying healthy, but my hands also stayed hydrated and healthy with little dryness or peeling skin.

Fresh is also the perfect blend for the middle of the day. The aromatherapy properties are stimulating yet relaxing. Fresh is formulated to reduce stress and also promote focus and concentration. Fresh meets the nose first with clean and minty top notes of lemon, eucalyptus, and spearmint. The lingering scent on the skin is camphoraceous. Notes of lavender and ginger remain on the skin for hours after treatment.
